When we launched Elegant in September, 2007, I asked some of my dear friends what the word "elegant" means to them.  This was - and still is - my favorite response: 

In my humble opinion, Elegant is going

to a cocktail party and letting others

make foolish remarks about persons or

events they have no real knowledge of.

 
Without saying a word, leave having

been seen, like a Ming Vase. 

            

Admired from a distance, but not heard.
